Bourj al Barajne Refugee Camp

Nick and I visited Bourj al Barajne a Palestinian Refugee Camp in Beirut Lebanon in January 2004. In July 2004 Selly Gardner and I went to work and play with 125 children aged 7 to 14 in their Summer School.

We loved staying in the camp. The children and the teachers were most welcoming. We were being spoiled and were well looked after. In the early hours of 11 July Nick suddenly died of heart failure at home in London. I took the first plane out and Selly carried on working and playing with the children.

Here are some pictures of the tree planting session the day after Nick's death. The children wanted to remember him and comfort me through their kindness.
